Ani DiFranco is performing in Tampa on March 20th at the Tampa Theater. Ani is a feminist (amongst other things) singer/songwriter and has maintained her own independent record label, Righteous Babe Records, since 1989/1990. She writes/sings about feminism, politics, GLBTQI issues, etc. She's amazing! Her last.fm page is here: http://www.last.fm/music/Ani+DiFranco if you just want to check her out, she has a very unique style, you can listen to some of her music there.

That's all I had to say. :) Have a good spring break, everyone.

Each week in my Psychology of Women class we are assigned discussion topics which we are to respond to (somewhat like the weekly bogs in this class). We are mainly given websites/articles/videos to reflect on and discuss. This was our assigned article for the week. It ties into what we are talking about now (women in the workplace) so I thought it might be appropriate to share.

its from Ms. Magazine and discribes the notion of affirmative action for men. Just thought some might find this interesting and/or possibly alarming....

This is a video that my friend showed me today. I watched it twice before I decided what I thought of it.
It is kind of creepy but I think it relates to this class really well. Women and Girls dying to be the perfect media image.
Please watch it and let me know what you thought when you watched it.

So everyone is posting or about about to post 750+ word assignments, which can blow up everyone's friends pages and make it hard to navigate.

Instead of just posting the entry like normal, try an LJ-cut. Here's a little tutorial for those who have never used LJ or maybe haven't used an LJ cut:

I used one below, so that you can see what they look like. Essentially it's just a link to click on that sends a reader directly to your entry.

Here's the LJ FAQ page on how to create an LJ-cut.

Or, click here to learn how.Collapse )

There's also a way to do this by posting in rich text mode, which you can choose by clicking the "Rich text" tab in the upper right hand corner of the box you post in. Highlight the text you want in the LJ-cut, then click the little icon that has three little lines and then a squiggly line.

Hopefully that helps. I realize this is a little ridiculously in-depth, but HTML can cause a fair amount of anxiety. :)
See you on Tuesday.
